Privacy notice
We collect the least we can, show less than that, and delete it when you ask.
What we collect
- Your email address (required) to sign you in and, if you choose, to send the weekly briefing.
- Anything optional you add: medical school, residency program, graduation year, specialty.
- What you post on the board and send in messages.
- Basic security records: sign-in sessions and abuse counters. No ad trackers, no analytics cookies.
What we never do
- We never sell or share the member list, and we never tell any program, hospital or employer who joined.
- Our database stores no IP addresses. Abuse counters keep only a scrambled code, deleted within 2 days.
What other members see
- Your handle, and only the profile fields you switch on. Everything else stays private.
- Your email is never shown to anyone.
- Public counts (members, programs) are shown only as totals of 10 or more.
Who can read messages
The two people in a conversation. Moderators can see a message only when it is reported or flagged for self-harm language.
The weekly briefing goes only to members who opt in. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Sign-in links are sent through our email provider.
Delete your account
From your account. Deleting removes your email and every profile field right away. You can also erase everything you posted and sent.
How long we keep things
- Sign-in links work once and expire after 30 minutes. If you never use one, we delete it, and the email typed into it, within a day.
- Sign-ins last 30 days, then expire and are deleted.
- Your profile, posts and messages stay until you delete them or your account.
- Our email provider (Cloudflare) keeps its own delivery records under its own policy.
If someone demands your information
A hospital, program or anyone else who wants to know who a member is must use valid legal process, such as a subpoena or court order. When that happens:
- We tell the member before we respond, unless the law forbids it.
- We give out only what the law requires. An informal request gets nothing.
- We publish nothing about you to anyone outside the site.
No website can promise that nobody will ever learn who you are. A handle that is not your name and posts without identifying details are your best protection. See your rights.
Where it lives
On Cloudflare (site and database) and our email provider. We do not sell or share member data.
